With the automated PURFLAT system, we take flat-top block technology to the next level by combining a proven design with intelligent automation — delivering greater control, higher precision, and tangible cost savings.
From proven technology to smart automation
Our experience with flat-top block systems dates back to the 1970s, when we partnered with the original inventors of the Planiblock technology. Building on this heritage, the automated PURFLAT system enhances the traditional concept by motorising the ski/float adjustment and integrating precision load cells. These sensors measure cable tension in real time, ensuring the exact pressure is applied to the foam throughout the pour, without manual intervention.
How the automated PURFLAT system works
Once the operator selects the formulation, the system automatically positions the ski/float. It descends quickly to a preset height, then slows as it contacts the foam. Load cells confirm when the correct force is reached, and a closed-loop feedback system continuously maintains optimal
pressure for the entire production run — resulting in flatter, more consistent blocks and up to 3% material savings.
Precision, intelligence, and lower operating costs
Automation allows us to achieve twice the accuracy of traditional Planiblock systems, while reducing operator dependency and human error. The system can also plot the foam rise profile and provide real-time feedback on block shape, improving process control and repeatability.
